Sara's expertise lies in methods for how to design for innovative applications and future experiences, grounded in existing practices. Lately, she has especially focused on designing and studying applications for playful photography.
Sara Ljungblad finished her thesis "Beyond users" in 2008. The thesis investigated how specific groups of pepole can be engaged in the design process in order to learn about certain experiences, and how these can inspire new applications. In 2008 Sara did an internship at the "Socio-technical Systems Group" at Microsoft research, UK. Sara did a study on a creative photography with a device called Sensecam and the resulting research was presented as a paper at CHI 09.
Today, Sara is also affiliated to SICS, where she conducts research about robots for home environments. The research concerns design and evaluation strategies, as well as ethics related to this. Prior to this Sara has been affiliated with the Viktoria Institute in Gothenburg, where she worked with photography applications, robotics and more.
