Her research looks into the semantic and aesthetic aspects of game sound, exploring the design space of sound effects and environmental ambiance, and the emotional and psychoacoustic processes by which game sounds contribute to game experience.
Inger holds a M.Sc. in computer science from the University of Tampere (2003). Before coming to Mobile Life, she worked in various research projects at Aalto University. Most recenlty, she has been applying psychophysiology as a way to investigate experience within gaming and other high performance scenarios, and as input for emotion-responsive user interfaces.

Louise Barkhuus is an associate professor at Stockholm University and a senior researcher at the Mobile Life Centre. Her research focuses on social interaction through and around mobile and ubiquitous technologies, particular in relation to issues of privacy, friendship maintenance, location-reporting and game playing. She looks at the intersection of technology and social interaction by combining the development of prototype applications with newly adopted commercial technologies. Her recent work includes studies of social media as facilitators of ad-hoc socializing and analyses of privacy issues within ubiquitous computing research.
